About Us

ARID Thorold ARID Fort Erie
ARID Alcohol Recovery In Dignity, is a Recovery Home for adult male alcoholics or addicts. Its purpose is to provide a non-medical, supportive environment for the recovering person. We provide room & board, one on one and group counselling. We offer referrals to psychological, medical, educational, and employment services. ARID operates two homes in the Niagara Region, one in Thorold and one in Fort Erie, with the capacity of 14 residents.

ARID is a charitable non-profit organization, established in 1976 and incorporated under letters patent on October 28, 1977. ARID is administered by a board of directors and we receive our funding from MOHLTC (Ministry of Health and Long Term Care),Fort Erie Bingo and other fundraisers, private donations and the men pay a nominal fee for rent and basic needs.

ARID came into existence because a large number of alcoholics and addicts did not have suitable residence during critical periods of their recovery. We provide that suitable residence and our service extends to their families and society as a whole.
